No-one opposes them either. I did manage to fight off a planning application last year, for housing on the last green space big enough for free and safe play in the Llantarnam area. But the Council has stamped all over the area - demolished a primary and secondary school, sold the very large sites for housing, built a primary school that is too small, sent older children to Cwmbran High miles away (and disgusting compared to the old school). And all the money went to rebuilding Croesyceiliog School. The names allocated to the new estates are a joke and there was no consultation on any of the changes. TCBC don't care about our history, the environment, our people. So, I'm really glad to see this PhD study. It would be wasted on the council - they have 'other objectives' known only to themselves.Linda Josephhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14486393877539895152noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2299006518616360287.post-35337661409241598372019-12-03T11:04:30.939+00:002019-12-03T11:04:30.939+00:00It provides comprehensive knowledge of the subject...It provides comprehensive knowledge of the subject. I will certainly be bringing my research to the attention of the local authority/ archaeological trust.

EddieEddie Procter (Landscapism)https://www.blogger.com/profile/10196792135158959223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2299006518616360287.post-75681454301722724032017-10-04T09:32:50.326+01:002017-10-04T09:32:50.326+01:00Thanks Steve

As well as being interesting from a landscape history perspective, this also demonstrates that the common town v country, nature v development debates that tend to predominate miss the complexities of the actual landscape.

Eddie Eddie Procter (Landscapism)https://www.blogger.com/profile/10196792135158959223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2299006518616360287.post-19855246963986876982017-10-02T20:39:12.762+01:002017-10-02T20:39:12.762+01:00I would love to do this walk? However, as it is being destroyed, it is not being investigated. That's normal practice unfortunately.

An example of this can be found running parallel to Grange Road. It is the other main water leat for the Abbey fed from the Afon Lwyd. Famed for its post war planned development it still holds fragments of its former landscape including several blocks of ancient woodland. Nice to see your walk included Springvale Pond and Churchwood Local Nature Reserve as well. SteveValley Naturalisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10388870124075590171noreply@blogger.com
